About this site
An independent running blog for recreational marathon runners.

RunLiverpoolMarathon.co.uk is an independent running blog for people who want to run a marathon, or who are already training for one. We write about training plans, nutrition and hydration, running shoes, the mental side of long-distance running and how to cope with race-day weather, as well as the long history of marathon running in Liverpool.
Who is it for?
The site is written for recreational runners in the UK: beginners wondering whether they can run a marathon at all, people preparing for their first half or full marathon, and experienced runners looking for a refresher. You do not need to be fast. Most of our readers simply want to get to the finish line healthy and enjoy the day.
What you will find here
- Beginner guidance, starting with marathon running and can you run a marathon without training?
- Practical advice in our marathon running tips and on the blog
- Background on the Liverpool marathon and its history since 1927
- Travel ideas for race weekends, such as Liverpool sightseeing
An independent site
This website is an independent blog. It is not the official site of any Liverpool marathon or other race, it is not connected to any race organiser and it does not sell race entries. Race names, dates, routes and entry details change, so always check the organiser's official website.
The articles give general information about running and are not a substitute for personal medical advice. If you have a health condition, an injury or doubts about your fitness, speak to your GP or a physiotherapist before you start training.
